Receiving a palliative diagnosis from my doctor was a shock indeed! Because of the insistence of a friend, I attended my first visit at Hospice with concern - 'I would leave depressed; I did not need this'.

How wrong I was!

My experience has been and continues to be most positive and uplifting. I have found companionship with those who also have an incurable disease. Everyone's friendliness and concern has lifted my morale and made me aware that I am not alone in my struggles with cancer. I, in turn, have learned compassion for, tolerance of, and sharing with others, Hospice fulfills a necessary psychological and social nees for me.

I credit our patient and kind R.N. and volunteers for creatring a warm welcoming atmosphere. They kindly assist us to understand our medical condition and willingly answer our concerns. These selfless workers make Hospice what it is, a welcoming relaxed place where I feel personally valued.

I now encourage others to attend.
