THE ROTARY CLUB OF OTTAWA KANATA SUNRISE
PRESENTS THE
6th ANNUAL HIKE FOR HOSPICE PALLIATIVE CARE
Sunday May 2nd
Registration: 12 noon
HELP MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN YOUR COMMUNITY
Many members of our community care for and assist loved ones with a life-threatening illness, a daunting task undertaken and received with love, but a task often done without support or adequate resources.
You can make a difference to people at this important time in their lives and have fun at the same time. Friends of Hospice Ottawa’s 6th Annual Hike for Hospice Palliative Care is part of a national event sponsored by the Canadian Palliative Care Association. All funds raised remain with Friends of Hospice Ottawa to continue its work in our community.
Friends of Hospice Ottawa is a registered charity dedicated to providing supportive hospice palliative care services. Our Mission is to support, educate and empower those who are affected by or caring for persons with a life-threatening illness. We affirm life and its fulfillment. We all deserve to live fully, with dignity, comfort and compassion until the end of our life.
The hike is a day of family fun and entertainment for friends, old and new. Enjoy the music of the Swivel Hips Band, games, a professional face-painter, a City of Ottawa Fire Truck - these are but a few of the attractions. Once again, we will have our Memory Tree where a leaf can be placed in remembrance or in honour of a loved one.
Please join our hike at Andrew Haydon Park, or come with your pledges and relax, have a complimentary lunch, receive your tee-shirt and enjoy the on site activities. A pledge form is attached for easy collection of pledges. If you are unable to walk but would like to sponsor someone, make a donation or a pledge in memory or in honour of a loved one, please use our secure fundraising website at www.hikeforhospice.com You can also call Ruth Cameron at 613-838-5744 or Kathleen Ellis at 613-592-1208 to make a donation. Donations can be made by Cheque, Visa and MasterCard.

- Have bake sales
- Snowmobile Clubs could have a rally for us
- Encourage church groups to host a special luncheon or an event where funds raised would go towards the hike’s end total.
I thank you in advance for considering these suggestions. We see the annual National Hike Event as an opportunity for all of us to help make sure we can continue to provide hospice palliative care services to the Western Ottawa Region. I invite you to invest in your community.
