Friends of Hospice Ottawa’s Girls Night Out
 Raises over $50,000

Friends of Hospice Ottawa would like to thank the community, our partners and sponsors for their tremendous support of our 3rd Annual Girls Night Out held June 11th, 2009.  Over 800 ladies attended.  The evening began with every lady being escorted to their seats by one of the 40 awesome volunteer firefighters from the Kanata, Stittsville, Richmond and North Gower stations.  Again this year the firefighters didn’t disappoint any of the ladies, in fact some of the these ladies went back out just to be re-escorted back to their seats again – that’s okay it’s all part of the fun at the Girls Night Out.

We thank all the firemen and the committee who organized and worked so hard with our Live and Silent Auction items raising over $20,000.  We also thank all the businesses and donors who contributed gifts for our auction.  Again this year our silent auction partner offered many unique items for our auction.
The fireman also did an awesome job selling raffle tickets during dinner for our Jumbo Raffle raising $7400 for the hospice.

Thank you to Brenda Stocker and Jeannie Langman (St Johns Anglican Church) who worked tirelessly decorating our stage and entrance. Our elegant table decorations were done by Judy Wagdin and Carol Ann Verbiwski.  Well done ladies!!

Special thanks to JJ Clarke from CTV for his exemplary emceeing and auctioneering. It was also an honour to have the CTV’s 6 p.m. weather done
from Richmond that evening.  Thank you J.J.

Susan Stewart our featured comedienne told some great stories of her life’s experiences in a comedic form causing lots of laughs throughout the room.

For the third year Al Graham owner of A.J. Catering served a delicious dinner to over 800 people in 17 minutes.  Everyone in the room continues year after year to rave about the fabulous meal.  Kudos Al, we look forward to your meal next year.

Thank you to Lion Alastair Munro and the Richmond Lions Club for another well organized year managing  the bar for us.  This year a newly added Margarita Bar proved to be a tremendous success and sold out sooner than expected. Next year we’ll have more….. We also would like to thank Gary Belding and the Goulbourn Kiwanis Club members for helping at the bar and being available as designated drivers if needed at the end of the evening.

The Richmond  Lions Club again this year donated $3000 to our Girls Night Out bringing our final total to over $50,000.

Again this year Dale Greene with his team from the Richmond Agricultural Society helped setup and take down all the tables and chairs for this event.
Dale is also there from morning to night offering his services wherever needed.
Thank you Dale!!
